Camila Machado
There is something quite special about the way Camila Machado sees nature.
A Brazilian fashion designer, textile artist and botanical printing researcher, Camila has developed her own creative language, bringing together fashion, nature and textile art.
Working with botanical printing and natural dyes, she creates pieces that carry the colours, textures and impressions of plants. Each creation is unique, shaped by nature, experimentation and her own craftsmanship.
Her work moves between fashion and textile art, from pieces to wear in everyday life to one-of-a-kind bridal creations, each carrying its own sense of identity and meaning.
Why I Fell in Love with Camila's Work
When I discovered Camila's work, I felt an immediate connection.
As a biologist, I've always been fascinated by nature, but I also love art and the different ways people find to express their creativity. Camila brings these worlds together in a way that really speaks to me.
I love the idea that a leaf can leave its impression on a piece of silk, and that something so delicate and fleeting can become part of a garment.
But what drew me to her work goes beyond its beauty. I admire the thoughtfulness of her process, the way she gives new purpose to natural materials that might otherwise be discarded, and her commitment to creating with greater respect for the environment.
There's also something very special about knowing that each creation has passed through Camila's hands, with all the care, experimentation and attention that her process requires.
Her work is exactly the kind of discovery I wanted to make room for as my boutique evolved. It makes me happy to be able to share it with the women who visit our Boutique in Basel.
