Lingerie Care & Laundry Guide

Your lingerie is an extension of you: delicate, confident, and beautifully made. And while it deserves care, looking after it is easier than you might think.

We recommend handwashing your pieces in cold water, but we understand that isn’t always practical. Many of you have asked how to wash your Intensify Me favorites in the machine, so here’s how to keep them looking (and feeling) their best for years to come.

Throughout a garment’s life, how we wear and wash it shapes its story and its impact. By caring for your lingerie mindfully, you extend its beauty, conserve natural resources, and help reduce textile waste. Small rituals of care, big impact.

Hand Wash or Machine Wash?

Your lingerie deserves a gentle touch. Avoid machine washing underwired bras, bodysuits, and corsets. The agitation in the drum can warp or damage delicate fabrics. Handwashing is always safest.

To handwash, fill a basin with cool water and add a small amount of mild detergent. Let the garment soak for a few hours to loosen any oils or residue, then gently rub the areas closest to the skin and rinse thoroughly. Avoid fabric softeners, as they coat fibers and weaken elasticity over time.

A Laundry Bag Is Non-Negotiable

If you do choose the machine, always use a lingerie bag. Made from fine mesh or cotton, it creates a soft barrier that prevents snagging and tangling while allowing proper cleaning.

Fasten hooks and clasps, place your pieces inside, and wash on a cool, low-spin delicate cycle. This method is suitable for items like knickers, bralettes, and some soft bodysuits, but structured or wired pieces still deserve a handwash.

Take Your Time, Do It Right

Care is a ritual. When washing, use a mild, bleach-free detergent and handle each piece gently. Avoid twisting, stretching, or scrubbing, your lingerie’s delicate structure depends on a soft touch.

For machine washing, select a cool, low-spin delicate cycle and let your pieces move freely inside their protective bag.

Skip the fabric softener, it traps moisture within the fibers, weakening elastic materials like elastane and shortening your lingerie’s lifespan.

Skip the Heat

Heat is the enemy of elasticity. Avoid tumble drying or ironing Instead, lay your lingerie flat or hang it to air dry, smoothing and reshaping gently with your hands to preserve its natural form.

Give Your Pieces a Little Love, Often

Because lingerie sits close to your skin, it benefits from regular washing: bras after a few wears, knickers after each use.

A little attention goes a long way. Treat your lingerie as you would yourself, with care, respect, and a touch of tenderness.

When you care for your lingerie, you’re caring for the woman who wears it.
