Kimono – Phoenix

Inspired by the transformative power of fire and the resilient beauty of Brazil's Cerrado, the Phoenix Kimono tells a story of renewal, inner strength and the extraordinary capacity to begin again.

The Cerrado, with its landscapes shaped by seasonal cycles and fire, provides a meaningful backdrop to Camila Machado's creation. Like the mythical phoenix rising from its ashes, the kimono celebrates transformation not as an ending, but as the possibility of new beginnings.

Crafted from pure silk, the kimono carries botanical impressions created with onion skins, urucum (annatto) and crajiru. Through botanical printing, their organic markings become part of the fabric, creating a composition of warm, sun-inspired tones. Each impression contributes to a textile that cannot be reproduced in exactly the same way.

On the back, a phoenix is embroidered entirely by hand, surrounded by intertwined branches, leaves and roots. The bird symbolises rebirth and courage, while the botanical elements evoke growth, ancestry and our connection to nature. Together, they transform the silk into a composition rich in meaning and craftsmanship.

With its generous, flowing silhouette, the kimono moves beautifully with the body. Light against the skin yet powerful in its expression, it is as much a piece to wear as it is a work of art to treasure.
